Breaking the Surface

Blessings to you all as we are gently moving into Fall. This Sunday’s service will focus on Isaiah 65:17-27, Romans 8:28-39 and Mark 16:14-15. The sermon title is: “Breaking the Surface.” The is: “Mountain Sunday” as we complete our 4-week stint through creation. The choir will be back singing during the service – and my favorite hymn is the opening hymn (can it get any better than that). During coffee hour the BOOKSTORE will be back in operation. We will be signing up Crop Walkers and Crop Walk Supporters. Addison County Crop Walk will be the following Sunday. If you wish to support the walk in general – send a check or bring one to the church and the Mission Committee will divide

Spirit in the Sky

Blessings All, This Sunday we will continue our journey grounding out worship through the lens of God’s creation. Our grounded focus this Sunday will not be the ground but the sky. The scripture passages for the day are: Jeremiah 4:23-28 and Psalm 19:1-6 with a sermon entitled: “Sky – Word.” The Mission Committee will have a sign – up sheet “registration” for this year’s Crop Walk which will be held on Sunday the 4th of October. If you would like to join in with the choir – they will begin practicing around 8:15-8:30 this Sunday upstairs in the Manse (across the connection and take a left). The choir will begin singing during worship on the 27th. I look forward to seeing you on Sunday

Bookstore Team

Blessings All, For the past two years we have worked with Hopkins’ Bookstore in Burlington to provide a bit of a satellite operation here in the Fellowship Hall on Sundays after church. The Deacons would like to offer it again.Mike O’Daniel and Ann Collier are willing to plug in – Mike has done much of the ordering and organizing over the life of our store-ette. If you would like to be part of our bookstore team – please let me know and we will get things started soon. Readingly Gary

One Huge Thank You

Blessings Faith Community, This past Saturday we held our second annual Food For Fuel event on the Vergennes Green. What a day it was. The Lions Club did the cooking – our crack-planning team plugged in with all cylinders – making signs – promoting the event – distributing fliers at the recycling center – setting up and serving and tearing down – what a wonderful event it was, sharing the gifts of our community with the wider community in food and fuel aid. I do not know how many people were fed – but it was over 100 and maybe 150 or so. The $$ tally is still to be done – but 100% of the donations will go directly to aid families this heating season. The mums were a BIG HIT. We had 62

Serving Jesus

Blessings to you all, “Serving Jesus” not a bad title for a message on Communion Sunday. There is more than one way to read (discern) the meaning of those two words. I think any of the meanings would be an acceptable theological position to own. This Sunday is Kick-Off Sunday for our Sunday School. We will introduce the teaching teams and following the Children’s Message all kids 3 years old through 6th grade will go downstairs, meet up with their teachers and then go to their classrooms. The 5th and 6th grade students will gather to discuss how they would like the year to unfold for them within the context of the church. This Sunday is also Communion Sunday. If you wish to support the

Lift Every Voice

Blessings to you all, Whether you can read music or not – DO YOU LIKE TO SING? Do you like to share gifts with others? Do you like to be part of a team? If so, then please consider joining your gift with others in our church choir. We do not practice in the middle of the week – we condense our time together to Sunday mornings. We begin practice at 8:15 – maybe closer to 8:30 (but do not tell anyone that) and we gather in the upstairs of the Manse (across the connector and take a left). We have a newly painted space dedicated to the choir ministry. With the many busy schedules and obligations we understand that “every Sunday” attendance is hard (maybe impossible) to commit to. Food for Fuel Event

Blessings All, The energetic, creative and spirit-filled coordinating team for this year’s FREE LUNCH – FOOD FOR FUEL event this Saturday from 11-1 on the Vergennes Green, has been at work and things are coming together very well. The Mission Fund is covering the cost of the food and we have been blessed with donations of hamburger from the Vt. Livestock Slaughter House in Ferrisburgh. The Lions Club will provide the cooks and the cookers. We need cookies or brownies or something along that line for dessert. If you could make a batch and drop them off at the church by Saturday morning or bring them to the Green THAT WOULD BE GREAT. Some of us will be meeting at the church at 9:30 to bring

Sunday Service

Blessings to you again and again, I am not going to completely repeat the email from yesterday about the details of the Button Bay Service beginning at 10:30 on Sunday at Button Bay State Park. The focus scripture is Genesis 1:1-25 with a message (which will be interactive) entitled: “Planet Earth.” If anyone wants to carpool or provide transportation for others who may not have a car – please be at the church at 9:45 and we will make the connections. Again – this would be a great time to invite friends and families to join in this informal – fun day together. Peace and Joy Gary

Button Bay Service

Blessings to you all, In preparation for our “outside service” at Button Bay State Park this Sunday, I travelled there to check it out and chat with the Ranger. They are ready for us – and here is what I think I know: The facilities open at 10:00 and our worship service will be in the pavilion beginning at 10:30. People can arrive a bit early and if you do – please set up a picnic space close to the lake. There is a great space there with tables and grills and some open space. There is an entrance fee of $4.00/adult (14 and older) $2:00 for children (4-13) and little ones are free. If you are 62 or older you can get aGREEN MOUNTAIN PASSPORT at your town office. The cost is $2:00 FOR LIF
