In Preparation

Blessings to you all on this day before New Year’s Eve day. As we look to a New Year filled with things expected and things unexpected I would like to share with you two “items” of focus in preparation not only for the upcoming year but in preparation for this upcoming Sunday. The first is a prayer that is included in the Pastor’s portion of our Sunday School curriculum and I thought it might be a good one to share. “Prepare us O God, to welcome the events and people that mark turning points in our lives. Stir our imaginations to honor the dreams that send us in new directions. Grant us courage to follow the signs that lead to another road. Amen” The second is to encourage you to take a

Growing Season

Blessings All, I hope and trust that your Christmas a good one with family and friends. I won’t make this message long – not wanting to take you away from your workout on the treadmill. First of all – one huge thank you to all who made the Christmas Eve services so special. Mel and Jean Simmons again provided the scenes that allowed the children to sense the Christmas story up close and personal. Jenny was great – surprise surprise and Sue and Bill’s leadership of the choir which did great was wonderful while Cherie Vachon added her precious voice again in reading such a well-known and special story from scripture. The support of the Deacons and Mike’s work providing the bulletins and al

Blessings to you all, This Sunday is the fourth Sunday in Advent and our scripture reading is from Luke – surprise surprise – chapter 1:39-55. The sermon is entitled: Antigravity. If we had a little less gravity – my weight issues would be resolved. Just a thought. Denise Martin has decorated the sanctuary with the poinsettias that people ordered. Following worship the Mission Committee is promoting alternative giving (Habitat and Heifer) in the Fellowship Hall. We will also have a cookie exchange. Bring some cookies in, share some cookies here and take some cookies home. Some of the cookies will be used for coffee hour, some will go caroling and given as gifts to the carolees and th

Wiggle Room

Blessings to you all, Tomorrow is the third Sunday in Advent – known by one as “YOU BROOD OF VIPERS SUNDAY.” John the Baptist has this very unique pastoral, caring and invitational approach to ministry. The scriptures are: Philippians 4:4-7 and Luke 3:7-18 with a Message entitled: “No Wiggle Room.” The children’s Christmas Pageant will follow right after the Message. It is always an enjoyable time to be with the little ones and the not so little ones as they share the age-old Christmas story with an inevitable unplanned twist or turn. Maybe Christmas has become too planned. Just a thought. We will celebrate a baptism tomorrow as Gary and Shirley Andrews’ grandson, Kaden, is baptized.

Advent 2

Blessings all, The church is decorated for the season and we are moving our way through Advent. Tomorrow’s scriptures are; Philippians 1:3-11 and Luke 1:68-79 with a message entitled: “And You, Child, Will Be Called ...” Jenny and Jas will be lighting the Advent Candles this week and we will share in Communion. The children will be practicing the Pageant during Sunday School time and following worship at 11:00 Chessy Kelley will be leading a Meditation Workshop in the sanctuary. Also at 11:00, anyone considering joining the church is welcome to bring a cup of coffee upstairs across the bridge into the Manse for a time discussion. Child Care will be provided. The Giving Tree is set up on t
