Balancing Faith

Blessings All, This coming Sunday we will focus on Isaiah 55:1-9 and Luke 13:6-9 with some help from Psalm 63:1-8. The sermon is entitled: “Balancing Faith.” To get the spiritual wheels turning a bit, here is a question or two: “How do you perceive (receive) the Holy or the Divine?” How do we balance things – is there a Trinitarian approach that may shed some light on our faith journey? Immediately after worship the Called-To Care ministry Team will meet in the sanctuary before coffee and after a bit of coffee we will continue our book study that we with a discussion of The Bible and Science (chapters 19-21 of the bookMaking Sense of the Bible by Adam Hamilton). Limiting Fear

Blessings and Peace to you all, The scriptures for Sunday are: Genesis 15:1-12, 17-18 and Luke 13:31-35. There is a couple of ways to read the sermon title: “Limiting Fear” and both of them may speak to truth and to Gospel. There will be a gourmet pancake and sausage and fruit and coffee breakfast/brunch following worship in the Fellowship Hall. Good Sunday to invite a hungry friend or two. That soon to be well-known group: “Mike and the Real Men” will be putting the meal on for us all. This evening and tomorrow, a group of church people will be in the Fellowship Hall going through a “Called-To-Care” training program for lay-people. Please hold them and the program in prayer. Peace an

Unavoidable Necessity

Blessings All, As we prepare ourselves for winter this year (weekend) please be safe and cozy. From a spiritual perspective “safe” is not always a life-giving or life-growing word. In fact the concept and tradition of Lent is anything but safe. Lent begins in the wilderness. The scripture we will focus on for the sermon will be Luke 4:1-13. If you have a chance after your morning workout and run, take a moment and read this passage, once you catch your breath. The sermon title is: “Unavoidable Necessity.” Our children’s message will focus on Deuteronomy 26:1-11. YUP – it is going to involve food again but also the concept of “giving,” a lesson we all need to hear from time to time. P

Balance Beam

Blessings to you all, This Sunday the scripture passage is: Luke 9:28-43a. This is the Transfiguration story with a vital addendum. The title of the Message is “Balance Beam.” “Beam” has a number of different meanings. The Deacons have have purchased copies of the UCC Lenten Devotional book to hand out to anyone interested. We will have Communion this Sunday (if you want to support the Deacons’ Fund you certainly can do that using the envelopes in the pews). The Deacons will also be having Chessy Kelley here from 11:00 – 11:30 offering a Meditation Workshop (CHILD CARE WILL BE PROVIDED). If all of that was not enough – we will have the “Affirmation of Ministry” service within worship
