What a weekend

Blessings to you all, As we enter the last part of January – I am beginning to notice a bit more sunlight. We need more light in a lot of ways. Tomorrow (Saturday) we will gather to celebrate and honor the light of life in Bob Fuller. The funeral service for Bob begins at 1:00 here. Military honors will be included in the service followed by a reception downstairs (thank you Ginnie and friends). On Sunday we will have a baptism and welcome 6 new members into the church. The annual meeting will follow directly after the service and ice cream and cake will follow directly after the meeting in the Fellowship Hall. Child Care will be provided during the annual meeting. The scriptures for

Choices

Blessings Faith Family, Everyday – maybe even every hour – every minute – every moment we make “choices.” This Sunday, as in most Sundays have chosen to follow the lectionary readings. The texts will be: 1 Corinthians 1:10-18 and Matthew 4:12-23 with a sermon entitled: “Choices – Choices – Choices.” In Matthew Jesus is faced with the recent arrest of John the Baptist. He had choices to make. He walked along the Sea of Galilee (not on it at this time) and invited two sets of brothers to join him. They had choices to make. Everyone has choices to make. I am choosing to join in worship here on Sunday. I look for forward to our “chosen” time together. Peace and Love to you all Gary

Did you get that call?

Blessings to you all, Last Sunday we focused on the baptism of Jesus and we all got a bit wet – just a bit - as we remembered our baptisms and shared a few stories. This Sunday we will focus on “Call” and being lifted up OUT OF THE MIRY BOG onto firm ground (Psalm 40). The scripture selections will also include Isaiah 49:1-7, I Corinthians 1:1-3 and John 1:35-42. How many of us feel “bogged down?” The sermon title is: “I Am Called To ....” I may include stories of two New England pastors going to the March on Washington in 1963. I look forward to our time together. See you on Sunday in Christ, Gary

Welcome to Servantville

Blessings to you all, Happy Epiphany to you all. It seems that there is a whole lot of “seasonal affective disorder” going around. Today we recall the Magi following the light of the star to the Living Word – the Light of Life. May we all continue to seek His Light. This Sunday we will gather to worship and share the living word. The scripture passages are: Isaiah 42:1-9, Acts 10:34-35 and Matthew 3:13-17. The sermon is entitled: “Welcome to Servantville.” The first Sunday after Epiphany focuses on the baptism of Jesus. Can you recall your baptism? Do you have any “baptism” stories to share. We might have a bit of an interchange this Sunday. I look forward to our time together. In
