Blessings All, Tomorrow is Vergennes Day and we could use a bit of help setting up beginning at 8:30 here at the church and tearing down at 3:00 on the Green. If you want to swing by the booths and stop in for a while – GREAT – the venue is open officially from 10-3. Sunday we have a lot going on. We will be celebrating the baptism of Chase Sweeney – the son of Jasmine Parks and Lucas Sweeney – grandson of Peggy and great grand son of Diana. We will also include a blessing of the backpacks and the students and the teachers and anyone connected with this year’s schooling which for most of our kids begins next week. Wrestling with Angels

This Sunday, the first of Gary’s partial vacation (he’ll be coming in one day a week to check in for three weeks), I will be leading the service. We will be talking about one of my favorite stories from the Hebrew Scriptures: Jacob encounters a stranger in the night and wrestles until dawn (Genesis 32:22-31). There is a deep tradition in our faith of wrestling with and resisting God! Our New Testament text is Matthew 14: 13-21. For families with children, please remember to talk to your kids about the story of their names.
