Ready or Not

Blessings All, Just a friendly pastoral reminder – Christmas is on Monday – that means – Christmas Eve is just before that again. We have three services on Sunday and guess what – We are not taking names. Our Sunday morning service (the 4th Sunday of Advent) will focus on 2 Samuel 7:1-11 and Luke 1:26-38 and 46b-55. The sermon is entitled: “Uncontained.” Following that service we will be setting up for the 4:00 Family Candle Light Service featuring the sacred story enhanced by Mel and Jean Simmons’s marionettes. The final service of the day will begin at 7:00. This service is a traditional service of lessons and carols and will feature the choir and readings by Cherie concluding as well

Las Posadas

This Sunday – the Third Sunday in Advent - worship will begin as usual and part way through (before any sermon) Abigail will lead the congregation in a Las Posadas experience throughout out buildings culminating in a traditional Christmas Pageant. The celebration does not stop there – the kids will have a fun time during coffee hour (I will not mention – anything about maybe swinging a stick to break a hanging thing filled with goodies). We will have some Mexican treats as well as some other goodies for all to enjoy during coffee hour while the kids are taking batting practice. Advent 2

Blessings All, The church is decorated – thank you teams – the season is more than upon us. Sunday is the second Sunday in Advent as we move toward Christmas – this Sunday the scriptures are: Isaiah 40:1-11 and Mark 1:1-8 with a message entitled “Peace Work.” The Advent Candle will be lit by the Millennials. We will have the re-useable grocery bags available in the Fellowship Hall. Sunday afternoon from 2-4 is the Mission – Holiday Concert right here in our church. A free-will offering will be received with all funds going to support our mission and outreach activities for 2018. See you on Sunday Gary

Advent 1

Blessings All and Happy December 1st. This Sunday is the first Sunday of the new “church” year. It is Communion Sunday as well as the first Sunday of Advent. We will have a lighting of the Advent wreath The scriptures are: Isaiah 64:1-9 and Mark 13:24-37 with a message entitled: “The Coin of Faith.” How many sides does a coin have? After church the select Team Tree One will go hunt and gather. To be on this select team – takes a bit of an effort – one needs to show up. They will be leaving around 10:45.
