Button Bay Service
Blessings to you all,
In preparation for our “outside service” at Button Bay State Park this Sunday, I travelled there to check it out and chat with the Ranger. They are ready for us – and here is what I think I know:
The facilities open at 10:00 and our worship service will be in the pavilion beginning at 10:30. People can arrive a bit early and if you do – please set up a picnic space close to the lake. There is a great space there with tables and grills and some open space.
There is an entrance fee of $4.00/adult (14 and older) $2:00 for children (4-13) and little ones are free. If you are 62 or older you can get aGREEN MOUNTAIN PASSPORT at your town office. The cost is $2:00 FOR LIFE and you get admittance to all State Parks at no charge.
I set up with the Park Ranger a tally system. If money is an issue – PLEASE come anyway and just let them know at the entrance that you are with the Vergennes Congregational Church and the church will cover your entrance fee. Your gift of presence is far far greater than any entrance fee.
The pool will be open if they have a lifeguard. If they do not have two lifeguards the pool’s slide will not be available. The playground looks fantastic. Combine all of that with Lisa Bessette’s games and activities and it will be a joy-filled time – INVITE FRIENDS.
Following the shorter than usual worship service we will get ready for our POT LUCK PICNIC.
If you can – bring something to grill – something to share and your choice of beverage that will be good. I will have some paper plates and plastic ware but if everyone bring their own it will work out well.
The grills they have are for charcoal – so I will bring some charcoal and lighter fluid and MATCHES. If you want to throw in some charcoal when you come – great. It might be good to bring some chairs as well.
The weather is supposed to be wonderful and our time will certainly be great – I am looking forward to seeing you there.
By the way – “picnic casual” is the dress code.
Blessings and Peace
