It is about time
Blessings to you all,
This Sunday begins Holy Week, a week filled with lightness and darkness and finally lightness again. This Sunday is Palm/Passion Sunday and the children will parade around the church with palms before giving them out to the congregation. The second part of the service is, to say the least, a shift in tone and mood as we enter into the dramatic reading of the Passion. This Sunday’s service along with Maundy Thursday’s Tenebrae service are two of the most emotional service of the year and a very very important part of the story leading to Easter.
Here is the Holy Week Schedule
This Sunday – 9:30 Palm/Passion Sunday
Maundy Thursday Tenebrae service at 7:00 in the Fellowship Hall -- this is a solemn reflective service of readings and extinguishing of candles – this service include Communion
Watch Night Vigil – 8:00 Thursday night until 3:00 Friday afternoon – someone will be in the sanctuary awake. WE have a sign up sheet for those wishing to participate in this vigil (one hour time slots). Many have found this to be an exceptionally meaningful time in the quiet – in the sanctuary.
Ecumenical Good Friday Service at our church beginning at 4:00 on Friday -- The choir will be singing an anthem – Jenny will be playing the organ and clergy from various area churches will be participating in this community time together.
Saturday is Kids Time beginning at 9:30 in the Fellowship Hall with crafts and fun activities culminating in a traditional Easter Egg Hunt (10:30) – geared for children of all ages.
Easter Sunrise Service will be held at Comfort Hill Farm beginning at 6:30 on the 16th – this is a short (maybe 15 minute) outdoor service.
Easter Breakfast – The men of the church will provide pancakes and butter and sausage and fruit and coffee and butter and syrup and butter and community – in our Fellowship Hall right after the Sunrise Service.
Easter Morning Service 9:30 as we decorate the cross with carnations – the cross that we carried into the church the week before (Passion Sunday)
I hope that each of you will have an opportunity to experience one, some or all of the events of the coming week.
Thank you for being YOU
