Just a pastoral reminder that this coming Sunday is very special for a number of reasons. It is a day that the Lord has made. It is also Mother’s Day and if that was not enough – it is a day we celebrate our life together in worship.
The scriptures for Sunday are: Acts 7:55-60 (the stoning of Stephen) and John 14:1-14, 27 (those well-known verses recited at many funeral services). The sermon is entitled: “The Gospel’s Edge – The Cost of Discipleship.” I expect this may not be one of the more comfortable messages to hear.
We will be receiving our Blanket Sunday offering. All funds will go to Church World Service and support their ministry of reaching out and caring for people here and around the world. You may send a check to the church or put one in the special offering envelope with “Blankets” on the memo line. The Mission Committee will have special Church World Service Blanket Sunday cards in the Fellowship Hall following worship if you wish to take one or more and to send to someone special.
Tomorrow – Saturday there will be an informal gathering at Rosie’s at 10:00 for a late breakfast.
Carol Mapel will be signing people up for this years’ Church Directory. Photographers will be here May 31st and June 1st. If you wish to reserve a space contact Carol at firstname.lastname@example.org or 802-825-6194. If you cannot make those dates connect with her and she will offer alternative options.
May you find time to enjoy this weather while we have it.
I look forward to seeing you on Sunday
