RHYTHMS OF GRACE
Rhythms of Grace For two years, the church led a faith formation program for children with special needs. Called Rhythms of Grace, the program was based on curricula designed by the Episcopal Church specifically for children with autism. At our church it met once a month on a Sunday afternoon and was co-led by the Director of Children’s Ministry and a special education teacher from the congregation.
The program included a welcoming activity, interactive Bible story, sensory learning stations, communion, prayer, and closing song. It had between 1 and 4 children participating, plus their families. The program was highly valued by the families who attended, and clearly benefited parents, who appreciated support and conversation, as well as the children.
