Serving Jesus

Blessings to you all,

“Serving Jesus” not a bad title for a message on Communion Sunday. There is more than one way to read (discern) the meaning of those two words. I think any of the meanings would be an acceptable theological position to own.

This Sunday is Kick-Off Sunday for our Sunday School. We will introduce the teaching teams and following the Children’s Message all kids 3 years old through 6th grade will go downstairs, meet up with their teachers and then go to their classrooms. The 5th and 6th grade students will gather to discuss how they would like the year to unfold for them within the context of the church.

This Sunday is also Communion Sunday. If you wish to support the Deacons’ Fund there will be special offering envelopes available for that. Recently, the Deacon’s Fund has covered the cost of renting the pavilion at Button Bay for last Sunday’s outside service. They also purchased the helium and balloons for Vergennes Day along with their regular support of the church by providing weekly bulletins, bi-monthly Upper Rooms, baptismal flowers etc. etc. Any support you could provide would be appreciated.

This Sunday is also the first choir practice of the season, beginning at 8:15 upstairs in the Manse. If you have a voice and want to share it in song. Please join in.

Chessy Kelley will also be leading a 1/2 hour Meditation session following coffee hour this Sunday. She will be leading it in our sanctuary beginning at 11:00.

Tomorrow – Saturday – we will hold our second annual FREE LUNCH on the Green with any contributions going to fuel assistance this coming heating season. All contributions are tax deductible. Checks can be written to the church with a memo “Food For Fuel.”

A full weekend – Serving Jesus.
