Unavoidable Necessity

Blessings All,

As we prepare ourselves for winter this year (weekend) please be safe and cozy.

From a spiritual perspective “safe” is not always a life-giving or life-growing word. In fact the concept and tradition of Lent is anything but safe. Lent begins in the wilderness. The scripture we will focus on for the sermon will be Luke 4:1-13. If you have a chance after your morning workout and run, take a moment and read this passage, once you catch your breath. The sermon title is: “Unavoidable Necessity.” Our children’s message will focus on Deuteronomy 26:1-11. YUP – it is going to involve food again but also the concept of “giving,” a lesson we all need to hear from time to time.

Please remember to bring some “Images of Love” and if you can make it a bit early set your displayette on one of the tables in the Fellowship Hall and we will visually share some of our joys – past and present during coffee hour.

Lent is a season of introspection which often involves either adding something or subtracting something from our life as a spiritual practice or disciple. We will have a bit of time during the service on Sunday to focus on that. So after you have done your first workout and run, read the scriptures and meditated on them and following the second workout and run think of what you might want to add or subtract that we provide for you a spiritually growing experience.

I do not know about you but I am exhausted already and just cannot wait until Sunday – a Sabbath day together.

I look forward to seeing you then.

In Christ,
