I hope and trust that you all have had a wonderful – fulfilling Thanksgiving.
This Sunday is the first Sunday in Advent – the first Sunday of a new church year. We have a lot going on so – here goes ...
Our scripture passages for this Sunday are: Isaiah 2:1-5 and Matthew 24:36-44 – with a Sermon entitled: “Re-Purposing.” Think about an item you may have around the house – designed to do a particular job – and you reworked it to do another job. (I am not talking about your spouse or life-partner here.)
Following worship and a bit of coffee, Abigail will coordinate an intergenerational Advent Wreath Making workshop. There will be some other activities as we join together to bring a piece of the church into our individual homes by making our own Advent Wreaths for family devotional times through the season.
There will also be a Team of hunters and gatherers venturing out to find, fell and foist our sanctuary Christmas Tree. We can use a bit more help – just bring some grub/warm clothes and boots and gloves for the annual trek. We will leave around 11:00.
Tickets will be for sale for the Mission Concert scheduled for December 11th (2-4). The price per ticket is $10.00 for all over 18. Ages 6-18 – 5:00 and younger than 6 – Free. ALL funds raised will go directly toward addressing local mission needs in our area in 2017.
Peace and Joy and maybe a couple of more Tums
