Church in a time of pandemic

Good people of the Vergennes Congregational Church,

Another week. How are you doing?

If you need groceries, yard work, a phone call or porch visit, let us know. We have folks who are able to do that and wait for the call.

We are learning a lot about worship online. See our Vergennes Congregational Church Facebook page for the link for worship, and join us any Sunday. Holy Week services will be posted as well.

On Sunday, April 5, Palm Sunday we will share Communion in our online worship.

Please have some bread, a slice or a small loaf of any kind of bread and cups of juice or whatever you have at hand. Set these elements in your worship space, add a cloth or candle or flower or the photograph of someone you wish to bring into the circle of faith beside the bread and the cup.

And from Henri Nouwen’s meditation for April 3:

God is a God of the Living

The mystery of God’s love is not that our pain is taken away, but that God first wants to share that pain with us. Out of this divine solidarity comes new life. Jesus’ being moved in the center of his being by human pain is indeed a movement toward new life. God is our God, the God of the living. In the divine womb of God, life is always born again. . .. The truly good news is that God is not a distant God, a God to be feared and avoided, a God of revenge, but a God who is moved by our pains and participates in the fullness of the human struggle. https://henrinouwen.org/resources/daily-meditation/

Blessings, and prayers for the healing of the world,

Barbara
